What does it take to build a better teacher?
Check out these 5 videos published by the New York Times that show how intentional decisions on behalf of teachers are making a positive impact on their students. I love the teacher who brings joy to the mundane (and at times chaotic) task of transitioning little ones from their desks to the carpet. Singing and dancing helps kids get their wiggles out while still ‘getting the job done.’ I also think the teacher that uses hand gestures to cue her students on proper behavior is fascinating. She can maintain structure in her classroom without disrupting the flow of her lesson. One student isn’t able to derail learning for the rest of the class. I can’t wait to start my fieldwork and see more classroom strategies!
